The Church of the Transfiguration in Jurków
|
Jurków gmina: Czchów |
The Church of the Transfiguration in Jurków was built in the C18th with a single nave and shingled roof. The predominantly baroque fittings date from the turn of the C18th. The main altar contains the church’s most precious paintings: a renaissance representation of Christ Carrying the Cross and two wings of a C15th gothic triptych with the figures of St. Catherine and St. Stanisław (on the obverse), and Christ Suffering and Our Lady of Sorrows (on the reverse). The kneeling figures are the triptych’s patrons: a priest and a knight of the Gryf (Griffin) coat of arms. Also noteworthy is the C18th painting of Madonna with Child. |
